Using plenty of U.P. creativeness, Patty Rheault (and her daughter) recently planned a fun birthday party for her grandson, who loves Legos. Starting with the cake, the games, the party favors and treats, a homemade piņata, and concluding with the birthday boy receiving quite a number of new Lego sets to keep him busy building for awhile, this was a homemade party filled with Yooper fun.
These photos are a great example of how the people here in the U.P. operate, when it comes to making things happen without costing a fortune. The majority of the things you see for this little boy's party were made by Patty (his Grandma) or his Mom. I think my favorite is the Piņata, which Patty said is two garbage bags, with plastic ice cream bowls attached, then spray painted to look like Lego blocks.
Beautiful grandchildren, Patty! I love seeing 'little ones' enjoying such fun with 'simple' things! I remember how much enjoyment Legos brought to our 'kids'!:)

We have a grandson like that, and my son was like that. Neither of them get tired of getting Lego's for gifts. My grandson builds them once, take them apart and throw them all in a bin together, and remember exactly how to build them. He's only 9. Amazing! Lego's are just a great invention for keeping kid's minds sharp!
summer and kids AND legos, all go hand and hand.;O) love the cake and everything else.
my grandpa use to make those legos for us when we were kids.
