Most folks here UP North, garden so that they can reap the rewards of all the hard work of planting, cultivating, weeding and picking the bounty that grows as a result. Then there are those that go just a little farther and make their garden aesthetically pleasing to the eye, in addition to the rewards. That's what it looks like Melanie Hakala Rossi has done with her vegetable and flower gardens.
Everything is so neat, with borders around the edges and picked clean of weeds in her vegetable portion of the garden. Then you stroll around her flowers and shrubs on a rock-laid path, surrounded by greenery and shrubs. You know there have been many hours spent here, lovingly cultivating all this beauty. It really is a sight to see... congrats on having such a green thumb, Melanie!

Next to green, lavender is my favorite color. Beautiful garden, Melanie! I remember gardens.:( There's nothing like 'fresh-picked'!

What beautiful gardens, Melanie!! My eldest's garden has also exploded under her green thumb and we are drowning in tomatoes (both cherry and beefsteak). Can anybody say chili sauce? :)

This must be an ideal year for gardens. Even the ordinary ones. And with Melanie"s magic hands she made a lovely scene to share with us. I try to do my share in my small flower bed with limited use of hands and back. I can image how much she lovingly worked with the plants and rocks etc. Thank you! And thanks to Pasty for bringing it to us.
