When Deb and Ron Simons came to town recently, they had some family along with them, including several of their Grandkids, so they wanted to show them around the Keweenaw. The weather was a bit chilly and windy, but they didn't let that stop them and you can see by the smiles on the kids faces, that they had fun no matter what the weather was doing.
They started in Eagle River, where Deb said that she doesn't ever remember seeing the falls running that much in August. All due to the rain we had right before their visit. After showing the kids the falls, they headed down to the Eagle River Beach for some Superior fun and a picnic, complete with sweatshirts to ward of the chill. Ron didn't mind the temperature, he kept busy looking for agates along the shore.
After that, they headed to Eagle Harbor, where the air was a bit warmer, but still too cold for swimming, so the kids enjoyed the slide and playing in the sand instead. It's all about making the most of each and every situation here UP North and Deb, Ron and family, did just that. They enjoyed the Keweenaw, no matter what!

Oh what beautiful photos and beautiful children! I really enjoyed each one!

Another set of beautiful grandkids. Proves my point.
By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Saturday, August 24, 2013 - 02:36 pm:
Thanks, guys!! They were so cold at first, but then they started running around the beach and loved it. It was a fun day despite the cold.

Mikie, you're right ~ it doesn't look like Deb has a 'redheaded stepchild' in her bunch.;) I can say that without repercussion 'cause I'm a 'faded' redhead. :>
By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, August 24, 2013 - 04:14 pm:
Redheads really get a bad rap. I think that there isn't much out there for red hair anymore and I think that's a shame. I really like red hair or strawberry blonde. For the most part, it's beautiful. But there are none in my family, that's for sure. We didn't even have blondes until the first granddaughter, and she's not so blonde anymore. Now I think there are more blondes than brunettes. I was always partial to brown hair and brown eyes, but my blonde hair blue eyed granddaughters are beautiful :-) We only have 2 with brown hair and brown eyes and the rest have either blue or hazel colored eyes....all of them gorgeous :-)

Not sure what color mine would've been called ~ it was the same color as my mama's 24K gold wedding band. I agree with Mikie, those are very beautiful grandkids, Deb!

Today's Blonde Recipe from the Blonde Cookbook, by me a natural Blonde. The recipe for Angel Food Cake calls for 12 eggs beaten separately, I only have one bowl so lucky my neighbor had the other 11 bowls to borrow.

Groan Janie, groan..... ;-)
And I must say that if Ron is looking for agates, he's not doing it right; he isn't near wet enough!!! Were those the Grandkids you spoke of Deb when we tried to meet UP a couple weeks ago?? They sure look like they were having fun.
By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, August 24, 2013 - 05:35 pm:
Deb, I have a niece that is natural blonde with brown eyes. A very pretty combination.
By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, August 24, 2013 - 06:13 pm:
I've seen that combo too, Janie. Very pretty indeed. And I agree with the Capt......groan :-)
Yes, Capt. Those are one and the same grandkids!!! And they had a ball!! I'll tell Ron your secret, but that water wasn't as warm as usual :-)

Looks like most of us can take a joke, so I'll chime in: Man goes into restaurant and asks the blonde waitress for a cup of coffee, sugar and no cream. 5 minutes later she comes back and says "I'm sorry sir, we are all out of cream, can you take your coffee without milk?" :-O
By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, August 25, 2013 - 09:49 am:
Alex, should we give you a groan too?? Thanks for bringing a smile in the morning!!
By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Sunday, August 25, 2013 - 10:13 am:
By the way Deb, until I was about 10, my hair was as blonde as the young man's in the first photo. Then it turned brown and now it's a very nice skin tone. (literally)
By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Sunday, August 25, 2013 - 10:13 am:
I don't get it Alex....lol! Laughter beats being disgruntled everyday anyday!!
By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, August 25, 2013 - 10:20 am:
All of my boys were blonde as could be until they were around 10, too. Now they all have brown hair and either brown or hazel eyes. It was weird to see those little blondes running around. But, they all changes, just as my oldest granddaughter has.
And yes, Janie, you would think so :-)

ONCE AGAIN.....I am not talking about adults.
TO the pasty person who e-mailed me.....just to let you know, it DOES NOT require a response. ;O)
By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Sunday, August 25, 2013 - 11:35 am:
Hey... I have an idea. To all the pasty posters who do not get it...let them know, tell them about it. No joke.
By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, August 25, 2013 - 12:49 pm:
Would you believe something similar to that happened to me, Alex. At McD's. one morning I ordered a sausage/biscuit and the clerk said "So you want an egg/sausage/biscuit without the egg?" Uh....yeah!:<
By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Sunday, August 25, 2013 - 02:10 pm:
Oh Shirley I could have had so much fun with that employee! lol!
By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Sunday, August 25, 2013 - 02:34 pm:
I almost did, Janie, but I figured she wouldn't appreciate my 'sense of humor'.:-/
