While Laurie Bashaw's daughter and grandsons were here visiting, she decided it was the perfect time to take them all to Da Yoopers Tourist Trap in Ishpeming.
The little boys were treated with a stop at the Deer Camp, a rest in a BIG size chair, several trips to the outhouse, one with a smart deer, reading while he does the job and the other with a wild looking hunter to greet you inside. They also checked out a king-size water pump and pail, along with an extra wide snowblower and those are just the things in today's pictures. There are a number of large pieces of equipment there to check out, too.
Inside you'll find a Rock Shop, a museum and some clever, one-of-a-kind items for sale. This is one of those attractions that you pass by day after day, but don't take the time to stop in and check things out. I think we'll have to change that!

Some comic relief after a very difficult day here in the Keweenaw. It started before sunrise with an accident at a fiber facility in Houghton, which has had the remote reaches of the Peninsula without Internet much of the day. A little Yooper ingenuity and a lot of 18 hour days this summer have managed to keep things rolling.
By the way, if you are in to Twitter, we've been sending tweets recently for Pasty Central Day in History from our simple ID of "Yooper". There's a noticeable number of new visitors, to whom we say "Welcome", like they do at da Tourist Trap.

been some years since I stopped here. First second I saw the first pic, it instantly put a smile on my face! I see they added a few more things - great photo opts for my dog! - Fun time for those young ones, it looks like!
