Time for our weekly Upper Michigan Shoebox Memory! Barb Wenberg has a neat collection of old postcards that includes this 1905 correspondence from Marquette, "May all your troubles be little ones". The little ones on this card would be almost 110 years old - if any were still around. Among the new model year of U.P. babies for 2013 is our own granddaughter, whose arrival was announced on March 1 Pasty Cam. That's her maternal Grandmother, Patty Wills, holding Ellie just last week at her baptism at Eastwood Lutheran in Neguanee. Jonathan and Katriina, Ellie and Grandma and Grandpa Wills in a group shot (cousin Andy Kandoll officiated at the service):
It's nice having Jon and Katriina back in the U.P., where Katriina just joined the staff at Portage Health in Hancock, and Jonathan continues his role as System Administrator for Pasty.NET (only a lot more "hands-on" than he was in Connecticut). BTW, if you're new to the Pasty Cam, Jon was the original photographer for the first couple of years of this daily feature that started in 1998.
Hard to believe that school will be starting in the next couple of weeks! Michigan Tech students have already started streaming to the Copper Country, and we've begun saying goodbye to a number of our seasonal residents, until next Spring. We've had our share of challenges this season (and yes, Edie's doing much better, glad to be home.) In the big picture of things, our troubles have all been little ones. Only Summer has been way too short this year.
Have a good week :o)
