One of our regular Pasty Cam viewers, Michael Du Long (Mikie), along with 2 of his grandsons will be in Sault Ste. Marie this weekend to take part in the military re-enactments going on during Rendezvous in the Sault. He's hoping that some of you folks that visit here each day, will stop by to say hello to him and his family of re-enactors.

There will be plenty for everyone at the event, including: Historical re-enactors (like Mikie), musicians, entertainers and merchants that will have set up camps and displays with presentations and demonstrations on military and civilian life in the period of 1668-1840. Included in the demonstrations and presentations will be cannon firing, drum and fife corps and early surveying equipment and maps used to survey Michigan. There will also be food, music, dancing, puppet shows, storytelling, crafts and games, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy!

The event takes place in the Soo, on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information click on this link: Rendezvous in the Sault.

At the same time this event is taking place, a similar event will be at Fort Wilkins State Park, in Copper Harbor. The Battery D, First Michigan Light Artillery will be recreating life at the Fort during the Civil War period. Included in this event, will be costumed interpreters, full scale artillery pieces, small arms and period artifacts. This will all be taking place starting today (Friday) and going through to Sunday - 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. For more information on this event, click on the this link: Civil War Era Encampment.

Sounds like two events I'd like to attend...but I live too far away.
I have great respect for war re-enactors ~ they do a great job!
Way to go, Mikie!!

So proud of one of Pasty Cam's own! Great job
Mikie!

Sorry we couldn't be there but maybe one of the
future events will be do-able. Hope the rain didn't
put a damper on things.
