I can't imagine anything that symbolizes the celebration of Independence Day, here in the United States of America, more than the flying of the American Flag or fireworks being shot up into the sky over the Keweenaw. Luckily, today we get a taste of both.
First the Stars and Stripes, flowing in the breeze, snapped by Taana Kalliainen. It doesn't get much more patriotic than that shot.
Then we go to Houghton with Aladino Mandoli, to enjoy the fireworks, as they're shot within sight of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, so photographers like Dino can capture amazing scenes that cap off a day of celebrating the birth of our Nation.
Let's all take some time today, to stop and say a prayer for our servicemen and women who are off defending our freedoms and can't be with their families on this national holiday. God Bless them and the U.S.A.
Happy 4th of July!
