I was absolutely loving the slideshow, and then I got to the bridge picture and just gasped! That is so very beautiful!!! The old Catholic school in Lake Linden brought back so many great memories. And of course there are lilacs again. The old Dreamland is another great shot. Love the spider web and I'll never forget the UP sign about breathing the air UP there!

Thanks for a great start to the day! Have a great one everybody!

Honoring all the men who went ashore in Normandy on this date all those years ago.

Sorry to say the local newspaper didn't even mention it. We should never forget what they did on the Longest Day. And will also always remember President Reagan's outstanding speech honoring their courage.

God bless our troops ~ then and now

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, June 6, 2013 - 01:25 pm:

I agree, Jbuck. I heard part of President Reagan's memorable speech on the radio today ~ gave me goosebumps! I remember watching that 'live' on TV.
May God bless all those honorable men, and all of our troops today!

(Jbuck); It is a sad day in history when we can't even remember our own on the Longest Day.

Blackie the bear is back in Ontonagon. He pulled the bird feeder off of the apple tree and drained the seeds. A gentle bear, he is, he never hurts the feeder.

Our house is always open to the critters as long as they eat on the run. :)

jbuck, I looked in the paper also, no mention. My
Dad was there. "THANK YOU THE GREATEST
GENERATION".That is a day we should never forget.

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Thursday, June 6, 2013 - 06:56 pm:

Thank you to your Dad, Dean. He is certainly a
hero, in the true sense of the word. We can never
understand or truly appreciate what those men felt,
crossing that Channel, knowing the odds that they
were up against. But we shall honor them in our
hearts always.

Do have to mention that our local Christian radio
station started the day remembering D-Day and the
sacrifice of these men who strove to liberate
Europe.
