Happy first day of June to you, Shirley!

Gosh June 1st already! Maybe we can start having more typical June weather!

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Saturday, June 1, 2013 - 11:01 am:

I'm always amazed at just how close the early explorers mapped the Great Lakes area as shown in the 2008 photo. Many of the bays, islands, and rivers we see today were known even back then.

By Tom (Tom) on Saturday, June 1, 2013 - 11:18 am:

I agree, Capt. Paul. Even the shapes of the lakes are pretty good. Lake Huron a bit distorted but good
for those days. Seems more island in Lake Superior
than today? Might be that I need to study the
map of that lake more carefully??

Happy first day of June to Shirley and everybody.
Only 40 more days till we're on the road but who's counting, eh Capt. Paul
More storms headed for SW Ohio today, but how I feel for those poor folks in Oklahoma. They can't seem to catch a break.

Capt. Paul and/or Doug, I travel light and eat little. Let's go!;>
Definitely keeping Oklahoma in prayer. So sad for those folks.

Nice pics, but I can make out 2012...bearly.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Saturday, June 1, 2013 - 05:02 pm:

I posted a picture of 7 of our 20 acres that's flooded now by the Cedar River as my profile picture.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Saturday, June 1, 2013 - 05:37 pm:

Looks like it's about time for that ark, Janie!!!

As joking aside, that appears to be a serious situation. How close is that to your house? And how are the animals handling it???

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Saturday, June 1, 2013 - 05:52 pm:

The edge of the water is less than 1/8 of a mile from the house, barns, and horses. The flood of '08 the edge of the water was 60 ft. from our house. Suppose to crest tonight at 19 ft. All day people have been driving by slowly checking out the flood. Thankfully all in all only fence repairs will be the only damage for us.

Looks like the FL Everglades, JT. Luckily alligators don't come this far north...yet.
