Today is Flag Day, the day set aside here in the U.S., that commemorates the adoption of our flag on this same day in 1777. Even though Flag Day is not an official federal holiday, many places observe it with a parade and celebration of Old Glory. At the very least, we make sure to fly our flags proudly on this day.

Mary Schmitt captured today's photos of her son's family, as they were proudly carrying our national flag. I couldn't think of a more fitting subject to feature today, with these youngsters being taught to honor our country and our flag. Thank you for sharing them with us all, Mary

Great to see these kids partaking in Flag Day festivities. I applaud their parents! Not too many kids today probably have no clue to Flag Day and it's meaning.

I try to buy the young grandchildren flags every year because it's important that they know how special it is.
