Lake Linden-Hubbell Class of 2013 walked the halls of their school as students for the last time over the weekend. Kathy Kumpula, mother to one of those young people up on the stage was there snapping photos to preserve the memories of her son's big day. It's an emotional time for both the young adults and of course their parents and grandparents, too. It's a time for smiles, tears, hugs and advice from the speakers.
Kathy's second photo was taken during one of the speakers words of wisdom for the seniors and she supplied me with the following background info to accompany it:
Greg Koepel asked grads who was happy to be graduating and to show by raising their hands as high as they could. Of course they all raised their hands while still sitting. He went on to explain that they need to reach even higher for their goals - Don't let fear get in the way! They could raise their hands higher if they stood up - so he asked the question again - and they all stood and raised their hands. Then he asked the crowd - who in here is proud of these grads? Show by raising your hands and of course the crowd was filled with raised hands, too.
The third photo from Kathy, is the traditional tossing of the graduate's mortarboards into the air, signifying that they're finally done with their high school education years.
Sally Beaudette was on the ball with her camera during that toss, capturing the mortarboards in mid air. What a great way to end the graduation shots.
Congratulations to ALL the 2013 graduates, both high school and college, along with their parents, for achieving this milestone in their lives. Job well done!
