Memorial Day-What'sUP May 27 - 09:11 pm

Rod Burdick was at it again, capturing freighters arriving and alongside the Marquette Upper Harbor dock. Rod said these two Canadian Seaway size vessels (730 feet) from the Canada Steamship Lines fleet, recently loaded ore at the Upper Harbor ore dock. They were then destined for Quebec City on the St. Lawrence Seaway and eventual transshipment overseas.

Rod added that visits from Canada Steamship Lines vessels are uncommon in Marquette and that the two vessels, CSL Tadoussac and CSL Frontenac last visited Marquette in 2005. Interesting shots and info, thanks, Rod.

The photos today are soooo clear and beautiful! I kind of miss seeing the big boats going through the Portage Canal.It is much more rare these days.
