Today's photos reflect conditions this morning and illustrate well, the crazy amounts of water flowing and that there is still plenty of melting left to go, too.

That's the Eagle River Falls in the first two photos, snapped by Kassy Kallio. These shots show what a difference a few days and some warm temperatures make. We saw these falls last week, when they were beginning to flow, but Kassy's photos have the water rushing full force and you can see the volume of water racing over. I bet if you close your eyes, you can hear the water roaring, too. If not, click on the following link to the "fuse factory video" Charlie posted on Sunday, you can hear the falls in the background there: 1 minute video

The remaining photos were taken by Melanie Hakala Rossi, just down the road in Eagle Harbor. That's one massive ice chunk still hanging on to the rocks across from the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse. I'm always amazed when that blue/green color of Lake Superior's water shows up in the ice formations, too. I'm guessing it'll take plenty of sunshine and more warm temperatures to melt that chunk away.

Very nice...wish I could be there.

Impressive photos!! But flowers would be better.;)

Mary says: We agree, Shirley, but unfortunately the ground is covered in white (again), not flowers, so that's what we get to see for a time here.
If there are folks around the U.P. with flowers (or other spring-like scenes) instead of snow, please feel free to send them my way for posting! :-)

I see a profile of 'ole man Winter' with a scraggly beard in that last photo.

Great photos! Looks like the old dam is getting a bit ragged. Someday the river will win.

Another great set of photos!

LOL! Mary, I see you're desperate for flowers too, bless your heart. Hopefully someone UP there will find some and send you a 'treat'. I would imagine all of you are getting 'cabin fever' by now.;>

Linn County Iowa has been getting a cold, cold rain and very breezy for 2 days, and not to slow/stop until Monday. I think I'd rather have snow.

Shirley, "Old man Winter" kinda looks like a handsome dude, but he has an 'evil' eye. :o) I wonder if someone could get a pic of the Hungarian Falls about now? They were pretty impressive, too, this time of year.
