First Post

By Dunerat (Dunerat) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 08:04 am:

Good morning everyone. It's another sparkling morning here in West Michigan. The Beaver Island ferry is scheduled to make its first run this morning; I'll be watching the Powers Hardware web cam to see how it fares through the ice in St.James Harbor.

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 08:05 am:

Sorry for the glitch with the slideshow. If this looks familiar, it's because we saw it yesterday, one day early. Thanks to Bob Jewel for catching the error, we'll try to get April 2nd fixed.

Beautiful morning in the Ohio Valley...supposed to reach the 50s today.
Always wanted to ride the old Beaver Islander Ferry when we lived in Charlevoix, Dunerat, but never got around to it.:<

By Dunerat (Dunerat) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 10:51 am:

Well, Shirley, good thing you didn't decide to make your first ferry run today, because their web site says they canceled the first run until tomorow due to ice and weather conditions. There's still a lot of ice in the harbor, but you can see the open water out beyond the harbor.

Our home is again filled with liveliness! Mavis and Brimley are the best of friends! He's chasing her or she's chasing him. Bob & I are enjoying every minute!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 01:18 pm:

LOL! Janie, you'll never convince Brimley, nor Mavis, that she's a kitty.;> Glad they're enjoying each other!

By Waveaction (Lakelover) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 03:22 pm:

Great news Janie, really happy that Brimley has another good friend.

A rare seagull was spotted in Marquette...this should appeal to the bird watchers;

Found my first sign of spring today while driving to Houghton. Saw a big German Shepherd, laying in the sun on a six foot snow bank. :)

Very nice pictures there, Jarmo. Alas, I cannot read most of the
words.

It's nice to have you back on Pasty Cam.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 05:33 pm:

Welcome back, Jarmo (Japei), thanks for that site!
Waveaction, I've always heard that breed of doggie is brave, and determined.;)

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 05:48 pm:

We have owned both a Doberman Pinscher and a German Shepherd, both breeds are wonderful, determined and brave which is why both breeds are well suited for the Working Class by the A.K.C.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 05:52 pm:

Ahhh, Mavis jumped on the laptop and accidentally pressed the post button to soon, meant to say the Working Group and Herding Group of the working breeds.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 06:16 pm:

Ah-ha...computer savvy kitty.:>
We had a neighbor in CA. who had a very LARGE German Shepherd named "Unique", and she would peek at us through a knothole in the wooden privacy fence that surrounded our backyards.

By kay Moore (Mskatie) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 07:56 pm:

Shirley that's a great image in my mind. This big ol' dog peeking through a knot hole in a fence! lol. Each kind of critter has such personalities! A pet is a friend in our lives, gifts from the Lord. And Welcome to Mavis from us all. She's a lucky kitty to become part of your family. Pictures soon?

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 08:24 pm:

Hi Kay! Check my profile picture! :)

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - 09:21 pm:

She was so funny, Kay, she'd stick her nose up there first, then peek.:O>
Janie, does Mavis have the Siamese trait of crossed eyes?

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, April 4, 2013 - 07:08 am:

Shirley, her dad sure does have the crossed eyes, I'm thinking that comes along as she gets older, so far she doesn't. She has the strong raspy meow! Besides the crossed eye trait, Siamese used to have a kink at the tip of the tail. Our first Siamese had that.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, April 4, 2013 - 08:54 am:

Only 1 of ours had the crossed eyes...but I think they all had the kinked tail, and definitely the raspy meow.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, April 4, 2013 - 09:28 am:

I was wondering why the slideshow looked so familiar, and then I read Charlie's message. Don't mind seeing them twice.

I love the picture for the month of April on the pasty cam!!
