Where is everyone today?

By Dunerat (Dunerat) on Friday, March 15, 2013 - 08:13 am:

Happy Friday everyone! It's going to be a great weekend. Spring is coming! Yesterday I found the first crocus shoot of the year in the yard. And, last night I saw a boat out on Lake Michigan out beyond the Muskegon breakwater. Yay!

Someone mentioned Robins the other day...I saw at least a dozen foraging on the lawn in front of our office Wednesday evening.

Love the slideshow today! Love the primitive plumbing...it gave me a good chuckle. And Northwoods Living looks so serene. Low visibility is a true Yooper picture :-) I even love the country view. It's another serene looking scene. The 2 bridges are always a welcome site! And then my favorite lighthouse tops it off! Love it all!!!

Have a great Friday!

Robins hang around our area all winter...we look for the red-winged blackbird as the harbinger of Spring. Haven't seen one yet.:(

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, March 15, 2013 - 09:37 am:

I have been seeing many Robins, Geese flying North, smelling skunks, horses shedding winter hair, Oscar the Dachshund tracked down a Possum, and the sure bet Brimley & I saw and heard Red Wing Blackbirds this morning! Spring is close on our farm! :)

Good Morning! Nice photos this morning. I especially love Northwoods Living, the Lift Bridge at night, and the Eagle Harbor Light. And the fancy outside plumbing facility, otherwise known as an outhouse is quite a place!

Happy Friday, at last, Everyone! (It's been a long week, at least here.)

That Lake Linden gym picture caught my eye. It looks a lot like the old one in that there is the balcony around the floor but it is much larger.
I wonder if the edge of the playing floor is under
the balcony? In the old days if you were under that ledge trying to shoot you might hit it. Or, if you really jumped you might hit your arm on the ledge. Back then Dollar Bay had the smallest floor.
Just two days ago I met a retired Dollar Bay basketball coach at a UWGB women's bb game. He
spent a long time at DB. Lots of fun talking about
the old days up there and people/players we knew.
That picture sure struck a memory.

I see CG Mackinaw is out on Lake Superior! Are the locks open? A sure sign of spring anyway.

Bob, the usual opening day for the Soo is March 25th.

By Ken, Kalamazoo, MI (Kenkazoo) on Friday, March 15, 2013 - 07:01 pm:

Yep, the icebreakers are out. The Alder is in Duluth harbor and the Biscayne Bay and a Canadian icebreaker went thru the Locks yesterday in addition to the Mackinac being at work.
