Mike Schneider has been out snapping photos around the Marquette area, with a focus on the shoreline of Lake Superior, lately. His three photos here today, show us a progression of what I hope is the trend to continue in our weather here UP North.

Mike starts us off with a photo snapped overlooking Blackrocks and the iced in cove, which is across Lake Superior from Presque Isle in Marquette. If I'm not mistaken, I think this is the summer scene where fearless or foolhardy folks, depending on how you view them, do some "cliff jumping" into the chilly Lake Superior waters.

Moving on to the second photo, of the Upper Harbor breakwall and light, shows Lady Superior as she's all stirred up and splashing everywhere. The fury of this Lake is amazing and you need to show her due respect during windy, stormy times such as this, which means...stay off the breakwall!

The third shot, is what we're all hoping for, now that the calendar is telling us that it is Spring. Mike captured the sun shining brightly, reflecting on the Big Lake. It's been a bit warmer the past few days and Mike says that gets him thinking of Sprummer, which is a Superior Season, all its own. I like that...a combination of Spring and Summer. Let's hope we keep progressing to that season and move further away from the wintry Spring we've been experiencing.

What beautiful photos Mike.

Yes, it appears that Spring is trying to make it's way here. Over here on the east end we are experiencing "THE COPPER COUNTRY CRUST." Which is warm days and chilly nights which makes it grand for skiing anywhere one would want to go. The snow cover becomes hard with a thick crust which holds your weight. A friend of mine who resides here now use to live up in the Keweenaw and she uses that term all the time.

NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO THE BUG SEASON but will love to see the sun shinning a bit more.

Mary I love the new term that you come up with and the great story to accompany the photos. Thank you for the joy each day that you and Charlie provide for all of us who are displaced.

Stay off the breakwall sounds advisable, if you can find it. Nice pics!
