We were bombarded here UP North with plenty of snow again this week, varying amounts, depending on where you're located. So the three photos today, represent those different amounts of snow from several different locations and I've nicknamed the photos, "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly".

To begin, we have "The Good", from Shawn Malone, over at Lake Superior Photo in Marquette. She said she was "killing time" on US2 when she snapped the top photo of the weed sticking out of the sparkling snow. Neat how the snowflakes were acting like prisms, reflecting the sun in Technicolor sparkles.

Next, again from Shawn Malone, taken in her Marquette back yard, we have "The Bad". I call it that, because that's a 10 - 12 foot snow drift from the storm this week and if you look closely, that's a metal lawnchair buried in there, so that gives you an idea of how tall this snow bank really is. Beyond that giant pile of snow, is Lake Superior and her shoreline. Shawn was going to make her way out to the lakeshore to do a comparison photo of this year and last year on the first day of Spring, but in order to do that, she has to figure out a way to get over that obstacle. She said it's pretty amazing when you stand next to this wall of snow and see it towering overhead.

And finally, we have "The Ugly" and I'm not talking about the gentleman in the picture, but the depth of the snow he's measuring with that yardstick in front of him. Becky McKay snapped this photo of her husband, Rick, standing in their driveway in Mass City Wednesday morning, the first day of Spring and you can see that there's only 6" of that yardstick showing, so that means there was 30" of snow that Rick is standing in there. Becky said he spent most of the day plowing and even ended up using an end loader to move it around.

So there you have it...from pretty snow that shines, to the not so pretty snow that piles up over our heads and up to our waists! That's what the arrival of Spring looks like here in the U.P. of Michigan.

By now I would think you all UP there would be sick of snow.:> But still pretty to look at. Thanks, Mary, Shawn, and Becky.

With all the snow lately, I wonder how the spring run-off will be in the rivers and waterfalls. Some spectacular pics, I'll bet (hint-hint).
I would head UP myself, but I am stuck in 1040ville until April 15th :-(

Tarder Sauce, a.k.a. Grumpy Cat would say, "let it snow, let it snow, let it NO!"

Pretty photos, even if it's Spring.
