I keep telling myself that Spring is just a week and a half away, but when the weatherman UP North here, keeps telling us there are winter storm warnings and the snow keeps falling, it's hard to think Spring. Snow is what we have, so snow photos are what you get...

Frederick W. Koski snapped several photos recently, with the first one giving me a bit of hope, that the sun star in his shot will keep getting warmer and warmer so that the snow melts away quickly and it will not only BE Spring, but feel like Spring, too!

Then I look at Frederick's second shot and it's back to the reality of snowfall stuck on the trees...beautiful, yes, but more beautiful in January, than it is in the middle of March. Can you tell I'm more than ready for Spring?

Some of that Wintry weather delayed me this morning, which is why the Pasty Cam was on later in the day (for the second day in a row). It was some really blizzard-like conditions on the drive home from Calumet to Eagle River an hour ago.

I was thinking on the way home how beautiful it all is, in a rugged sort of way. "Hope somebody is getting a picture of this", I thought, not knowing what pictures Mary had prepared late last night. These shots are a vivid illustration of why we started the daily Pasty Cam in the first place. And we're glad to be well under way with year #16 of this continuous feature. Though we are late, we haven't missed a day yet.

Nice...is the first photo a night shot?

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Monday, March 11, 2013 - 05:30 pm:

Doesn't get any prettier than these.

Alex: It would have been a night shot except that Daylight Savings Time messed with the clocks.

Although i am extremely tired of winter about now--it makes for the lovliest photos. I love the winter "star"!
