Cindy Freeman recently made a winter visit to the eastern end of the U.P., because she said she loves to check out the lighthouses in the snowier months. Looking at her photos here today, I can see why she does. Her first two views were snapped at Whitefish Point, the classic shot of the campus of the Light Station and the "outerspace" shot of the shoreline. Cindy thought the beach looked like they had landed on the moon. I tend to agree with her on that one.

The second two shots were taken in the Brimley area, of the Point Iroquois Light Station. First with the beacon tower standing tall amongst the snow covered evergreens in front of the lighthouse and then, just like you're driving onto the grounds, you get a view of the building bordered with snowy drifts and blue skies. Outstanding for sure.

Thank you for the great photos, Cindy. Very pretty photos. Glad you got to be out in the sun to capture these. I love the otherworldly look of the ice, too. This has been an interesting winter for those kinds of scenes.

Beautiful photos this morning, Cindy! My friend who passed away in January would've loved these...she was a huge lighthouse fan.

i love all the pictures....but my favorite one is the third one. the lighthouse is standing tall and holding its own.;O)

The sky looks so blue...the shadows and light are lovely. I so enjoyed the beautiful pictures today.

The Whitefish Point Light Station is an awesome visit! The museum is a must see! History almost comes to life.

Thank you, Mary, for sharing my photos today. That was such a fun time! It was below freezing with the windchill, but I hardly noticed because the snowy scenes were so spectacular! I love when Mother Nature provides a bright blue sky on the day you decide to take pictures in the snow.
