Paul and Nathalie Brandes took a drive up to Copper Harbor while they were here for their visit last weekend. It looks like they picked the perfect day to do so, too, with the sun coming out and blue skies for a background as they drove UP North.
Sure is plenty of snow piled up on the branches along the way, too, which always makes me wonder how those skinny little branches can hold the weight of all that snow. I sure hope there's no one driving underneath when it decides to let loose, since it really could be quite hazardous if it dropped on your windshield while moving. When heading north, watch out for fall snow!

Some additional information; those photos were taken Friday on our way up the Peninsula as Mary pointed out. When we drove back up there this past Monday during the winter storm, several of those "skinny little branches" (as well as many larger ones) had fallen across 41 between Delaware and Copper Harbor including one we had to clear off the road to get through!! I guess they just couldn't handle the weight of the snow combined with the strong winds that were blowing. We stopped several times for photos and could hear branches and trees cracking in the forest but luckily, nothing fell on our rental.
I also wanted to point out that in the third photo if you look very carefully, there is a deer standing on the left side of road. That was the last of an entire herd that crossed in front of us near Eagle River.
All that trouble was worth it in the end though; we got some beautiful photos and enjoyed a bowl of french onion soup at The Mariner for lunch....

When contemplating little branches holding a lot of snow one must consider the gravety of the situation. Confucious

How about GRAVITY Roudy

I guess I should have added earlier that most of our photos from this past trip will be on our gallery over the next few days; that little thing called work is tugging at me this morning unfortunately....

Great pictures! Scenery such as in these pictures sure did not make the idea of going back to Texas fun for the Dr. & Capt.!

Capt. Paul, those road pictures must be M26 between Eagle Harbor and Eagle River.
By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 - 12:27 pm:
Photo 3 is on 26 as you said Bob just outside Eagle River, but 4 and 5 are along 41 between Delaware and Lake Medora.
And you have no idea Janie how much the Dr. and I were looking for ways to stretch our time there just a little longer, but as usual the one thing that truly brought us back to Texas were our "kids"!! ;-)

Great shots with the camera. I remember driving this route many times as a much younger man from Calumet. I can say I miss the beauty but not the cold. It is nice here in South Florida.
