Sally and Ron Beaudette have a knack with the critters near their Bootjack home. They've been compared to St. Francis who had the animals flock to him and that's what happens with the birds and deer that they feed.

Today's photos show you just how comfortable the Nuthatches, Chickadees and Deer are with both of them being right there. You can't get much more relaxed than to land right in their hands and I love the two shots of the Chickadee and the bowl. First it lands on the rim of it, then hops right inside to make sure it gets enough dinner in this cold Keweenaw weather.

And through it all, the deer are coming in and out in the background, eating their treats and not giving a hoot about what the birds and those silly humans over there are doing. They do check them out every now and then, but it's probably just to see if they're giving those birds some of their deer feed.

What a wonderful experience to be able to be so close to these wild creatures like that. Thanks for sharing them with us, Sally and Ron!

Knew as soon as I saw the first picture who they belonged to. You guys are so lucky to have that right in your back yard. Love seeing the birds up close and personal, as well as the deer.

Thanks so much for sharing!

WOW! I love these photos this morning. Thank you so much, Sally and Ron. How fortunate you are with the 'critter' environment!!

How awesome Sally & Ron have gained and built confidence in their fur and feathered friends to visit! In Harmony with Nature!

That's the best hunting around - 35mm/digital!! Thanks, you guys, for sharing. And congrats for having the quietness of soul that allows the closeness of the animals. St Francis, indeed!!!

Really Cool! Nice pics!

Hi
It's way cool to have chickadees and nuthatches land in your hand.

I'm not sure that making deer more comfortable being around people is a good thing for them or for us. A few streets over from my mom, in Jackson, MI, a deer crashed through someone's picture window, was herded into the bathroom, and jumped out the bathroom window.

love all the pictures BUT, my favorite one is the last one. That little bird has it all to himself or herself, sitting in that dish. ;O)

Wow! I needed a spirit lift today, and these
pictures brought it to me.

By Brenda Leigh (Brownmoose) on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 - 05:46 am:

Ron and Sally thank you both for taking the time to feed the birds and deer. It takes lots of energy to keep the herd fed and also it has become quite expensive as well. Then after all that. to be out there in the cold exposing the fingers and body.

I love Tom's comment about a "SPIRIT LIFT!" Nature truly has a wonderful way of offering
that to all of us.

Also a thank you to Mary for providing such an interesting story line. She is VERY GOOD at that.

I love these pictures! How fortunate to have the birds land on your hand like that. I have had chickadees come very close to me when I'm filling the feeders, but never landing on me. I'm fortunate that living in the city of Mount Clemens (north of Detroit) I have a 10 acre field behind me and frequently see deer. They will actually eat from my bird feeders, which is okay with me!
