The birdfeeders here in the North Country have seen a flurry of activity with the birds flitting back and forth looking for dinner in the midst of the snow. These feathered friends featured here today, were so busy with their mission, that they didn't seem to even notice our photographer of the day, Emma Stout, standing nearby, snapping photos of them. Of course Chickadees are one of the tamer birds and wouldn't care how close you were standing. If they want the bird seed, they're coming in for it regardless. But the Downy Woodpecker Emma captured hanging upside down on the suet feeder, would be a bit more skittish about humans nearby, although they aren't all that shy, either. Same goes for the Blue Jay...those birds are quite bold and actually kind of pesky at the feeder, chasing all the smaller birds away.
Winter is a good time to help out our little feathered friends with their food supply and the reward is hour upon hour of amusement, watching all the activity and the interaction between the different birds. Not to mention all the pretty songs you'll hear as they communicate while landing on the feeders and surrounding area.
Nice job Emma, your photos made it seem like we were standing right next to the feeders alongside you! Thanks for the birds-eye view!

Always enjoy watching birds at feeders! Lowers the blood pressure! The Bluejays are my favorites!

At first glimpse, that bird feeder in the first photo looks like a crown...the way the seeds are packed in. Love the birds!!

THANKS FOR THE BEAUTY.

These photos of the birds are excellent! What a wonderful way to start a day! The birds surely do like the suet and black-oiled sunflower seeds in the winter time. :-)

Nice birdies! (says Tiger Woods) The strength in those skinny feet and legs always amazes me.

Just noticed that blue suet feeder looks like a reclaimed table fan cover ... interesting idea ... will hold a lot of suet and accommodate many birds, too. :-)

I think you're right, Diana. As the saying goes "Necessity is the mother of invention." Evidently a very inventive mind came up with that good idea.

According to the dictionary, that blue table fan cover in the fourth photo was repurposed, not reclaimed.
I agree with you, Shirley, about the inventive mind and the good idea for a suet feeder for the birds. :-)
