Bob Gilreath was one of the unlucky ones that happened to get laid up, sick with the crud that has been making the rounds and this past Saturday, he finally felt well enough to get outside with his camera (and his shovel, too). His wife Liz was out there with him, filling bird feeders and digging in the snowbank, trying to find the suet feeder that went MIA in the mounds of snow.

Bob took a break by one of the snowbanks, just to give you an idea of how high the snow is piled up from the last couple weeks and to think we were seeing bare ground in places back then. Bob said he thought they might not have to shovel their roof the way our winter had been going, but you can see by his last two photos that old man winter changed that thought pretty quickly. There's plenty of snow now, so Bob can get his roof crew lined up to get it done. Then maybe he'll cook up dinner on the grill, since the deck is all cleared off, too. ;->

Nice pics...I bet a snow bird took the missing feeder south for the winter.

Under those conditions I'd be telling the birds that they're on their own.:<

Hi
Down here in SE Michigan we have been dealing with water and ice. Last night, the former hard-picked snow in my dirt & gravel driveway had turned to ice with a layer of moisture on it. We have flood watches in various places today. I didn't realize that it applied to the foot of my steps, but I began the day by stepping in a puddle ;> (

Temperatures are supposed to dive tomorrow, so we'll be dealing with ice again, maybe with snow on top of it.

I realize it's work to deal with snow but at least you can ski on it, and it looks nicer.

It's always great to see your UP photos! Those birds must be pretty hardy up there. Ours just have to survive all our rain out here in western Washington, with an occasional freeze.

The snow on the main part of the house has since unloaded into the driveway ;-)

I had to clear that yesterday along with the 8 inches of wet concrete that fell!

I have a sore shoulder today after shoveling heavy wet snow myself yesterday.
