Jeff Kalember and family, recently made a trip to the U.P., visiting the north shore of Lake Gogebic. While they were there, they did some exploring of his grandfather's old sawmill property that is now in ruins. That's where he snapped the photos of the brick wall and the old rooftop vent/smokestack. Must be fun to check out what remains on the property and imagine his grandfather there, running the sawmill and making a living.
It's always a good thing to revisit our heritage and what formed our lives, nice that Jeff and his family have this U.P. property still in their family, so they're free to explore it whenever they want

I love winter. I sure do miss snowshoeing and taking pics all winter along the shores of Lake Superior. I guess that means I'll just have to visit. :)

You're so right, Mary! Jeff, you're lucky to have the property still in the family. My grandfather's 50 acres had to be sold a few years ago, and boy, do I miss being able to get out there "communing with nature"! His apple orchard was my first introduction to commerce :)
