Just in case you're wondering what things are looking like around the Mackinac Bridge, we have that covered, thanks to Brenda Leigh. She was down that way a little over a week ago and not only did she snap a shot of the 5 mile span itself, but then she braved climbing around on the icy shores underneath the bridge to give us all a look at what the combination of the freezing temperatures and the frigid waters can do. Pretty neat the way the waves splash up on the pillars and it freezes almost instantly, as some of the water runs back off.

Just in case you're wondering... no one was hurt in this photo shoot, but one of Brenda's cameras took a hit, when they both slipped on the ice. And here you all thought photography was an easy job. ;->

The remaining three photos Brenda snapped were taken once she got back home. She did a good job showcasing the ice she found along the Lake Superior shores. Branches all shrouded with clear ice, chunks of ice floes building up and waves splashing, as the water spouts are forming. Gitche Gumee always has a few surprises, no matter what season it is.

Hope you suffered no bruises, Brenda. Believe it or not I can remember being that adventuresome.;)
Thanks for the glimpse of the cold UP!

Great photos, Brenda, thank you for sharing. "Under the Bridge" is fascinating. We finally got some ice in on the Lake Michigan shoreline near Muskegon overnight.

Thanks for bringing back some memories. I remember that as a teenager me and a friend climbed up to that lower beam and walked out to about the second pier. Youthful adventures!

That under-the-bridge shot is some kind of awesome! You're a brave woman, Brenda! Thanks for the unusual perspective!

Oh what beautiful pictures. I think the cold of winter makes for the most beautiful photography!

I would like to thank Mary and Charlie and all the pasty cam viewers for the encouragement to keep taking photos. I LOVE DOING IT AND I LOVE BEING OUT OF DOORS. As Mary said, on this shoot I did destroyed one of my favorite cameras but I will continue to go about my business to enjoy every moment when I am out there even when things are not always going smoothly.

I wish I was going home across that bridge this long weekend. I have not been home, since October. Thank you everyone for sharing your pictures of home for those of us yoopers, who now live below the bridge. Have a great weekend.
