Frank Paris told me that he loves old machinery of any sort and that's what brought him and Pasty.com together. He said that after he bought his first Hus-ski snowmobile (the yellow one), he was searching the Internet for information on them, when he came across an old photo of one on the Pasty Cam and he's been hooked ever since, on the old snowmobiles and Pasty.com.

Frank and friends ride these machines pictured here today, around the Gwinn area where he lives. It sure is nice to see the old, antique snow machines like this, but even better to see them out being ridden and used, rather than sitting in a museum where you can only look at them and not touch. Thanks for sharing them with us, Frank!

Now that's cool!! It really is nice to see them being ridden and taken care of. Good for them!

Very cool! Dream Cruisers if they had wheels.

By dane l. christensen (Danech55) on Thursday, January 17, 2013 - 08:21 am:

Anyone know what the other two machines are,and their years?

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, January 17, 2013 - 08:42 am:

I remember seeing ones like the one on the right end in the first photo.
Hey Janie, where's your input on this subject? ;)

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, January 17, 2013 - 09:15 am:

Oh My Gosh!!!! I so love these! These are the true meaning of snowmobiling, before high speed and expense was a factor, just plain fun in the snow! Bob & I have a early 60's Johnson snowmobile cutter sleigh that we love having fun with!! Thanks for the big smile on my face seeing these!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, January 17, 2013 - 09:27 am:

The square red snowmobile is possibly a Artic Cat.

By Bryan MacKenzie (Mack194) on Thursday, January 17, 2013 - 09:51 am:

I believe there is a vintage snow machine show at The Cliff View Bar on January 26th?

By Dan Kemp (Upkemper) on Thursday, January 17, 2013 - 10:07 am:

I remember Johnson testing snow mobiles before they
were introduced for sale. They tested them on Bill
Parkila's farm just off the Hancock Canal road in
the very early 60's. The farm was off the beaten
path and they probably picked the spot because of
its isolation.

I desperately wanted a snowmobile when I was a kid, but alas, my Mother was raising us on her own, and there was no money for such things. I remember watching snowmobile races on Little Bay de Noc in Gladstone in awe. And the kids with the small arctic cats (Kitty Kats I think) always made me envious. Glad to see these old machines survive.

Interesting.

By Frank paris (Fp1967) on Thursday, January 17, 2013 - 03:38 pm:

Hi everybody, glad that you like the old snowmobiles. The yellow Hus-ski is mine and is a 1966. The red one with the squared off windshield frame is an Arctic Cat 100, it belongs to a friend. The model 100 was made from 1963-66, I think this one is a 1966. The other red one is a Polaris K80, owned by the same man, I believe it is a 1962 or 63.

Robert, thanks for the video of the race in Rudyard, there is even a Hus-ski in it. Also there is a homemade looking Hus-ski type machine without a hood on it.
