Mary Drew at Pasty Central (Mdrew) on Saturday, January 12, 2013 - 07:59 am:

So many kids now-a-days are glued in front of the television, with a game controller stuck to their hands, so it's always refreshing to see youngsters outside enjoying the crisp winter weather. Jen Stout (Mom of Emma Stout), snapped a few photos recently of the kids having a good time out on the ice. Now before anyone gets their pasties in a bunch, let me add that Jen said the ice in front of their place is good and the kids are quite close to shore. They have STRICT orders to only go that far out.

With that being said, Jen also added that her oldest usually goes out there and clears the ice, so they all can enjoy skating and a game or two of hockey, right there at home. I'm not positive here, because I didn't get a chance to ask Jen for confirmation, but I'm thinking that the pretty young lady with the blonde hair is Emma, who's been contributing photos recently, for us all to enjoy. It must run in the family and I guess in this case we can say, like daughter, like mother. ;->

Special announcement - Drum roll please...we have a winner for the Toast to 2012 project we featured back in December. And the winner is....Robert C. Wetton!! Robert will receive a bag of tasty Trenary Toast delivered to his home, as his prize for sending in the photo of his Morning view. All of the photos sent in were good ones and there was no way we could decide which one was the best, so we threw everyone's name in a hat and pulled out Robert's name as the winner. But guess what? We decided that every one of you that sent in a photo is a winner. Since so many of you order pasties, we will be emailing all who sent a photo during the "Toast to 2012" (whether published or not) a coupon good for a free bag of Trenary Toast with your next online order. Thanks to all who sent in photos.

Just a reminder, that even though the "Toast to 2012" is over, you can still send in current U.P. photos for consideration as Pasty Cam daily photos. Email them directly to me at: mdrew@pasty.com.

Congratulations to Robert Wetton, who will soon be receiving a tasty bag of Trenary Toast delivered to his door. Also, a message for the other photographers who will receive a coupon for the bag of Trenary Toast: you are welcome to redeem it in the "Special Instructions" area of the pasty order form, to be included with any pasty order shipped anywhere in the U.S. (with no additional charge for the Toast). However, no purchase is necessary, if you want instead to stop by our pasty kitchen in Kearsarge to pick up your thank-you bag of Trenary Toast. We have limited office hours, so you should check with Deb at our order line, to be sure someone is there when you plan to stop by. Locally: 337-5979, or toll free 877-727-8911 (877-PASTY-11).

Thanks again to all who contributed to a very successful "Toast to 2012" !

Fun in the snow, good times for these kids.

We have ice this morning. I'm a little nervous about driving into town to go to work. Hope the roads are good!!

I can't get either one of those links to work.
Really want to see the winning photo!

Try again, Morning view

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, January 12, 2013 - 08:15 am:

I'm having the same problem, Eugenia.

We got the link fixed (Morning view), but apparently not before a zillion people tried it.

Check out the Main St. Calumet cam quick (it's 8:09
AM on the cam) -- there's a ghost floating down the
street.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, January 12, 2013 - 08:22 am:

Ah, now I remember that pic. Thanks, Mary.

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Saturday, January 12, 2013 - 08:42 am:

I can agree with that: congrats RC on the photo!!

Actually Mary, I like getting my pasties in a bunch; more to enjoy for dinner..... J There was a story recently on the news about how children should never be allowed on the ice because it could be unsafe. Upon further inspection, it was from a news source where they never get snow/ice, so what do they know??? Just another reason why I don't watch or listen to much news.......

A hearty congratulations Robert W.!!! Your picture gives me such a feeling of serene, something I could use a whole lot of lately!

By Waveaction (Lakelover) on Saturday, January 12, 2013 - 04:21 pm:

Congratulations to you Robert! Your picture was beautiful along with all that were submitted. I find myself asking why we all took so much time to send in the perfect picture and it was "lady luck" that determined the winner. Maybe next time they will actually pick a picture. As for the coupon, didn't know this would be another Pasty plug. Sorry, just the way I feel.

No purchase necessary, but all purchases delicious

...we just can't help it :o)

I dont want to snow on anyones parade but these great pictures remind me of growing up In Hubbell. We always had a rink down by the lake and it was taken care of by some of the parents in town. As an adventurest we 12 year old boys would go out onto the lake to play hockey this way it wouldnt bother the kids who wanted to skate just for pleasure. Some time during one of our Sunday afternoon games out on the ice the puck went a'flying out of our swept area and kept on sliding away towards the Ahmeek Mill. I was the volunteer to skate on to that direction to retrieve the puck, unaware that along the shore is where the Hubbell sewer was dumped into the lake I.e. Pre EPA days. Yes I fell into the lake at the sewer entrence and had to walk to shore, go home to get cleaned up (mom was fuming unlike the way i was) for special church services as i was an alterboy.

52 degrees for a high in Milwaukee today, is the ice safe?

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Saturday, January 12, 2013 - 05:06 pm:

If you read what Charlie said, you don't have to get pasties if
you don't want to. This IS pasty.com after all. And Charlie and
Mary didn't have to give us all the chance to get a bag of the
toast. That's just the way I feel.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Saturday, January 12, 2013 - 05:47 pm:

LOL! Eddyfitz. Whoohee!:<
