In case you're wondering, yes, there are still a few more photos that we have to feature that were sent in by the deadline of Dec. 31st, 2012, for the "Toast to 2012" contest. Today's photos come to us from two different contributors.

Starting with the top photo from John Dodge, who captured a U.P. snowy scene, with the trees all covered in white. A scene we often see after a good snowfall here UP North and one that gives you the feeling of a black and white photo, even though it's really in color.

The next two photos were sent in by Julie Buckmaster and were taken while snowshoeing. Julie's photos had to be scanned and sent in, since they weren't taken with a digital camera and she wasn't certain about submitting them, because she felt they had lost some quality during the scanning process, but they're still good shots and we felt worth featuring. I think they compliment the first photo, since they're similar wintry scenes, especially with the trees laden with snow.

An interesting note, here in the Lake Linden area at least, we're so far behind in snowfall this year, that you don't even need a pair of snowshoes to go out in the woods exploring yet. The snow isn't deep enough to hinder walking with just boots on. We definitely need more snow to start falling here soon. Maybe it's time to call on Heikki Lunta to do his snow dance. ;->

Scanning has given them a nostalgic, old-photo effect. Very nice.

Beautiful winter pictures! I must admit I think here in Linn County, Iowa we just may have a bit more snow for now.
