Can someone help me answer a question? A visitor to an article I wrote about Copper Harbor made this comment.
"I went to Copper Harbor the first time in May 2012 and as a nature-lover, I was instantly hooked! My question for you is what other places aside from brockway mountain are good for stargazing? Any other spots like that to get a full panoramic view?"
Does anyone have any suggestions I can offer?

Diane, Brockway Mountain is pretty tough to beat because the summit offers a panoramic view, there isn't much light pollution, and it's high enough to get you above some of the water vapor and extra air turbulence that's so common on the shores of the Great Lakes. Another place to consider might be the tip of Point Abbaye in Baraga County. Although it's only a few feet above Lake Superior, on a non-hazy evening you can walk out onto the open rock so that only the view to the southwest would be blocked by trees. There isn't much light pollution at all out there.

Diane: If your friend doesn't want to travel as far as Baraga County, we've had some great stargazing experiences at Esrey Park between Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor. Just sit on top of the big rock on a clear night. Sunsets and stargazing experiences have also been wonderful at the beach in Eagle River (MI), the Calumet Waterworks park and at McLain State Park.
