Laurie Bashaw has had a flurry of activity at her feeders lately, in the Marquette area. I've seen Pine Grosbeaks at our feeders and I've seen Evening Grosbeaks at our feeders, but I don't think I've seen them there together, sharing the seeds like this, before. Although, Laurie says that they weren't exactly sharing, as there were numerous "fights" over who was going to get the sunflower seeds and who could be on the feeder, too. I don't know about you, but I could sit and watch the interaction of the birds at the feeders for hour upon hour and not get bored with it. They are amazing little creatures.

I knew these pictures had to come from Laurie before I ever saw her name there. One of my favorite things to do is to bird watch. These are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing!

This is exactly what was going on in my feeders too! Beautiful pictures! I hadda dig out the bird book to find out what the Pine Grosbeaks were, as I'd not seen them before, and when an Evening Grosbeak popped in, my jaw hit the floor...I don't ever remember seeing them in the winter here before...I have only seen them in the Spring....Very cool stuff!

Ah great photos...and I just walked through the door with a 5 pound bag of sunflower seeds and suet...apparently the birds dont like just the yellow ball type seed. Thanks for sharing!

Have found out from past experience that most birds prefer sunflower seeds....maybe 'cause it's the most expensive. The cardinals and bluejays around here also like my cat's dry catfood.
