If you remember, back on Monday Charlie outlined a new project here at Pasty Central, to share more winter shots on the daily Pasty Cam. The pictures have been trickling in and today you get a glimpse at a few of them that are now in the running for the free bag of Trenary Toast.

The first two shots are from Judy Byykkonen, of her Scottish Terrier Minerva (Minnie for short). Judy says:

"Minnie loves to sit out on the picnic table all summer so she can keep an eye on the back yard. She thinks it is her job to keep all little critters away. The funny thing is... she is STILL trying to sit out there in the snow and I know she gets cold, so I have to go out and pick her up off the table and bring her in."
She sounds like quite the character, Judy... thanks for sharing her and the "Protector of the back yard" story with us.

The last photo comes from Joanie Sinkler and is one she sent in a few weeks back when the snow started, that was only added to the What'sUP page. She requested to submit it for our "Toast to 2012", so it's re-posted here on the Cam Notes today. Nice shot of two unsuspecting deer in the midst of what looks like some big flakes of snow falling.

In case today's photos have inspired you to get out there and snap some photos of your own to send, here are the guidelines, so YOU can be in the running for that crunchy U.P. treat, too:

Between now and the end of the year, if you see a CURRENT winter scene you'd like to share on the Pasty Cam - whether in the U.P. or elsewhere - email it to mdrew@pasty.com. We will post as many of the pictures as we can, then select one of the photographers at random to receive a special prize: a bag of Trenary Toast. It's our "Toast to 2012" and we'll pick a winner at the end of the month (end of the year).

In case you're wondering what we mean by "elsewhere" in the above paragraph, here's an example: the shot in the review last week from DC Yooper with their snowstorm - DC Yooper's photo from 2002.

Now get out there with your cameras and start snapping away! :->

At first I thought the first photos were Brimley.
Judy, Minnie is such a sweetie!;>
Joanie, I knew right away you'd sent that last photo....such a beauty!:)
Hope you both have strong teeth to enjoy the TT.

Hi
The first shot reminds me of a web page called picnic table cam, whre a picnic table was used as a snow gauge.

The Scottish Terrier, hearts bigger than life, and live life large! True to what is said dynamite comes in small packages! :)

By Just me (Jaby) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 - 11:02 am:

Janie-that is so true about Minnie. Every single time i let her out-she charges fiercely to the back fence and growls and barks as if to say,"Watch out all intruders.I am protecting this property."This is our first Scottie and we just love her dearly. She is personality plus!

By Richard Wieber (Flarich) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 - 11:28 am:

Shirley--One doesn't have to have strong teeth to eat Trenary Toast. The proper way to eat it is to "dunk" it in coffee!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 - 12:44 pm:

Yeah, I know, Richard, but then it 'disappears'.lol Uh, maybe I dunked it too long?;>

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 - 02:29 pm:

Cute dog. Nice deer.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 - 04:02 pm:

Jaby, keep in mind, Scotties have an increased chance than other breeds for bladder cancer. Using herbicides/pesticides in the yard has been known to even increase the chances. They are wonderful little friends! Enjoy her! :)

By Just me (Jaby) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 - 04:18 pm:

Thank you for the info. Janie. I will have to forego the weed and feed then . My dogs are more important than my lawn.

By Waveaction (Lakelover) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 - 04:20 pm:

Cutest dog I ever saw, besides my Westie, Joey!
Makes me want one!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Thursday, December 13, 2012 - 08:54 pm:

Judy, I love your dogs. Those are such cute pictures. Isn't it funny how dogs just want to think they're protecting their house? Then there's my dog, Maddie, she runs and hides, lolol.

Nice pictures.

By Brenda Leigh (Brownmoose) on Friday, December 14, 2012 - 06:13 am:

Thank you both for two beautiful photos. Judy your dog is so cute. I just love this picture. It is the cutest dog/snow photo. Really shows the character of Minnie...lots of SISU.
