The 2011 picture is one of my favorites!

Be careful out there.....

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Thursday, November 1, 2012 - 08:23 am:

Mine, too! It's a picture to show your friends that don't travel to the UP and have no concept of it's beauty & terrain!

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Thursday, November 1, 2012 - 08:49 am:

2000 reminds me that I only had 1 trick-or-treat'r last night. It was rather cold and windy.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, November 1, 2012 - 09:29 am:

Finally we have sun down here this morning, eh, Doug!
No trick/treaters at my house....one advantage of living in the 'country' on a narrow road...no place to park to 'dump' the kids.:>

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Thursday, November 1, 2012 - 09:43 am:

I agree Marsha!

Some people who see my pictures of the UP & Superior think its the rocky Maine coast or out west. They just don't know what they are missing!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, November 1, 2012 - 10:14 am:

Good Morning. Very nice pictures today, thank you all! We had 66 trick or treaters last night, which is on the low side for the 33 years that we have lived here, but, as Alex said, it was cold and windy.

I just heard that meteorologists are forecasting a somewhat colder and snowier than normal winter here for mid-Michigan. They are predicting more storms coming in from the Northeast, which means more coming down Saginaw Bay, which will dump a lot more snow on us than usual storms. That might be somewhat rude awakening, after last year's somewhat warmer and drier than normal winter. Whatever will be, will be!

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, November 1, 2012 - 10:19 am:

Eastern Iowa winter forecast is for warmer than average temps and about normal snowfall. Hopefully means no ice storms.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, November 1, 2012 - 11:05 am:

I do hope that Iowa gets more precipitation than normal, to help alleviate the drought, though, Janie. I agree, no ice, if possible! My cousin's wife drives 40 miles each way to work in northwest, and that can be horrendous in the winter!

Shirley, Yes we do have sunshine today. If you stand in just the right place there is even some warmth from it. No trick-or-treaters at our place either. The development across the road provides them much easier access than crossing over to our side. I do miss the little hobgoblins.

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Thursday, November 1, 2012 - 12:37 pm:

I left off the Iowa, so my cousin and his wife life (on a farm) in northwest Iowa. Sorry about that.

Saw on Facebook it's been 1 year ago George Hite, from Eagle Harbor passed on. Miss his Harbor writings!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, November 1, 2012 - 02:21 pm:

Doug, I haven't found that 'right place' yet.;>
Didn't mean to sound like a 'grinch' about trick/treaters, it's just that when we first moved here 24 years ago, most of the t/t's were teenagers who didn't even bother wearing costumes...just wanted the treats!
And the road is too dangerous for little ones to go house to house.....plus the houses are far apart.
Thanks for the last line, Alex.:)
