As I type today's notes, the Keweenaw is covered in a blanket of white, but Brenda Leigh snapped these photos miles and miles away, over on the eastern end of the U.P., near Brimley. You can see just a few leaves left on the shores of Superior, as she readies for her winter coat to arrive there, also. Nature was busy creating some sand art for visitors to enjoy and Brenda captured some of that for us, too. This type of handiwork only lasts until the next wave comes along or the weather washes it away with rainwater or snow, so it's an ever-changing canvas that Mother Nature has to work with out there.

Thanks for suspending this moment in time here UP North, Brenda, so we all get to share it together.

Great pictures, Brenda. Had to go over to the "What's UP" page to see who snapped them, though I could have guessed it was you with all of the walking and hiking you do. Nice work!!

We corrected the placement of Mary's opening remarks. First mistake we've made all year :>

By Donna (Donna) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 08:07 am:

Oh wow Brenda! How cool!!! PHENOMENAL pics!

By Dunerat (Dunerat) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 08:21 am:

Beautiful photos, Brenda, thank you!

The last two photos remind me of the images we're seeing from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, which is showing us all kinds of cool-looking evidence that there was once lots of flowing water on Mars.

The first two photos make me want to pull my shoes off and splash around like a kid. I don't care how cold the water is! I have a lifelong fascination with clear, shallow flowing water. It's the ultimate free playground! (Might also explain why I love fly fishing)

Nice pictures! Mary, how much snow on the ground?

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 08:30 am:

Those shots are so neat, Brenda! The third one looks like a 'tree', the fourth, a 'tree branch' and the fifth, 'flames'!
Have to wonder if your favorite tune is "On The Road Again"? ;)

Neato pics!

JT- 3 or 4 inches in Calumet. Cool pics Brenda!

Great Pics!

By Bob Williams (Wabbit) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 11:06 am:

Charlie... you mean 2nd mistake today. The bulletin board says opening day for "Deed".

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 11:20 am:

LOL! Bob, you're very perceptive...I didn't even notice that.

By Martha Kirk (Misschiefie) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 01:57 pm:

Well I noticed it, Bob and Shirley, and I am outraged. It's bad enough to shoot deer, but to shoot poor innocent deeds! And you can't even claim to use them for food. I get sick at the very thought of trophy deeds hanging over the fireplace with the bullet hole prominently displayed. Where's the ASPCD (American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Documents) when you need them??? J

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 02:51 pm:

Giggle, Martha! Thank goodness my deed is tucked away in my safe.;> Maybe I should put a "No Hunting" sign on my door?

Autumn struggling to hang on.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 04:45 pm:

At least they're not cheap dirty deeds.

By Brenda Leigh (Brownmoose) on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 - 05:14 pm:

Thank you for all the nice comments. It is SO human
to error!

Snowed here on the eastern end of Gitchee today.
