Where the mouth of the Gratiot River, runs into Lake Superior is a great place to spend some quality family time and that's just what Lindsay White and her crew did recently. The obvious differences in being there this time of year, are that you need much warmer clothes and you don't want to be playing in the freezing cold water. You'll still find plenty of rocks to search through, looking for the elusive Lake Superior Agate, though, only you might have to move some fallen leaves to find them.
While Lindsay and her family were there, they found an interesting rock formation (the bottom photo) right on the shore. It definitely looks like something... what do you see when you're looking at it?

The rock picture to me looks like a Sperm Whale.

Great photos; thanks Lindsay. Kudos to you and yours for being an all-weather family.

Hi I'd have to go with a turtle head. The eye would be smaller & in a different position for a sperm whale.
Seeing all the leaves on the beach is something different for me. At our place on Lake Huron, near Cheboygan, the shoreline has grasses and conifers, so no fall leaf drop.

Thanks for the link, Kathyl. We didn't say it was a true likeness...guess one could just say depends on 'the eye of the beholder'.;)
