Night time in Houghton, is a bright affair as you can see from today's photos, taken by Taka Aoki. This is the remainder of the shots Taka sent from his visit back to the Keweenaw a few weeks ago. He always was talented when it came to photographing night life in the area and this one of Sheldon Ave. and the one looking back toward the Lift Bridge from just up above Kestner Waterfront Park, are no exceptions. It always amazes me how taking pictures in the night, changes your perspective of what you're looking at, as it took me a little while to figure out the second photo and what direction Taka was looking when he snapped it.

Then he finished off the series of photos with the beautiful red/pink skies over the Portage Canal. Speaking of your perspective of what and where a photo is taken, my first impression of this one was that of a sunset, but looking at it more and more, I think it might be a sunrise and with an impressive bank of clouds just on the horizon, too. What do you, the viewers think...sunrise or sunset?

It sure was nice to have Taka back with some of his photos to share. I hope he keeps in touch and doesn't stay away so long from now on. :->

Omg! I saw that 2nd pic and immediately thought, "That reminds me of a Taka shot!" What a surprise to see that, even though I did see him on here a bit ago!

Astonishing. Like Marsha, I missed Taka's earlier ones. I'll have to
do some retrospective looking through past photographs.

I believe the final shot is a sunrise - I'm thinking looking east from the Super 8? The docks look right.

Beautiful photos. If the 3rd one was taken at night, the weather will be nice the next day ("red sky at night, sailor's delight").

Thomas, I know that 'saying' is the most popular but the one I was taught as a child was "Evening red, morning gray, will set the traveller on his way.....evening gray, morning red, will bring down rain upon his head." ;)
