Some of my personal favorite Pasty Cams are the panoramic views. Which years have featured such a wide angle view on this day?

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 07:19 am:

It looks like its 1998, 2003 and 2008

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 07:21 am:

OK, 1998 and 2008 plus today...

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 07:54 am:

I don't believe 2008 is a panorama, jbuck, although I could be wrong (it has happened before...)

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 07:57 am:

I agree with the Capt on this one, but whatever kind of view they are, they're spectacular!

By Dunerat (Dunerat) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 08:03 am:

I agree with Deb. Incredible slideshow this morning! As always, thanks to the artists behind the lenses and to the Pasty Cam crew for bringing them all to us. Have a beautiful fall day, everyone!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 08:04 am:

I agree with Deb.
Well, Deb, we didn't make it this morning.;>

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 08:08 am:

Capt, this is what it shows for 2008 in the review:

Sunday, October 12
PASTYVISION
From the pre-digital camera era, the view at the top of Brockway looking toward Agate Harbor and Eagle Harbor. Shoebox Memory from Michele Mukavetz.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 08:11 am:

atta way jbuck! stand your ground! lol!

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 08:12 am:

LOL Janie!

I'm just sooooooo confused!!!

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 08:19 am:

LOL, I'm crushed! How 'bout you, Shirley?? Guess I won't go losing any sleep over it:-)

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 08:44 am:

Deb, I think the ONLY way I can earn the bird is when I can beat Charlie to the draw....meaning when I can get 'here' before he does.;)
But you're right, no sleep to be lost over a bunch of feathers.;> (just kiddin', Charlie)

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 09:35 am:

Ok I concede; jbuck is correct!! I was looking at a different page w/o the "PastyVision" tag on it, but I found the page she refers to and sure enough, there it is.....

I guess my mind is wrapped around Sunday night and the Packers/Texans matchup in Reliant. (which btw; I'm wearing my Packers jersey today at work in a hostile environment!!) J

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 09:43 am:

Very gracious of you Capt!

And even bringing up football you didn't mention a certain college game played last weekend..... i appreciate that too!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 09:57 am:

1998 is not a panoramic picture.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 10:02 am:

I meant the 2008 picture is not panoramic, because the picture was taken in 1998. pre digital...

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 10:04 am:

1993 i meant. (just having a very rough morning)

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 10:09 am:

mickill ~

1993?

not sure what camera was used back then, but there are non-digital panaramic cameras on the market...

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 10:37 am:

There were and still are film panoramic cameras out there, not to mention 35mm SLR camera as well. It's just the 2008/1993 photo is not a true panoramic, but a wide-angle shot looking down the Mid-Continent Rift. So in a way we were both correct. ;-)

And I didn't even realise Tech beat NMU in football last weekend to retain the Miners Cup. I guess I need to pay more attention to MTU sports but with hockey starting last night, I'll be tuned to Mix 93 more often now....

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 10:41 am:

Both mickill and jbuck are correct. Here's how: The picture sent to us was a single viewpoint, conventional photo. When we posted it, it was cropped to a panoramic aspect ratio. Thus, it was not taken as a panoramic picture, but indeed appeared as:

2008
pastyvision

By
mickill mouse (Ram4) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 10:45 am:

Go to previous yrs. of Past Cam. Go to 2008 and click that on. Then go down to Pasty Vision and take a look at the picture and let me know what ya' think. You will also see someone in the picture.

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 10:55 am:

I had a camera that took three (3) different sizes of pictures, to panoramic. It took Advantix film. I loved that camera and for yearsssssss it took lots of pictures. I still have the camera but no film. I know I could probably get film of the computer somwhere, but I am use to the digital camera now.

By M.P. (Fatdad) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 10:55 am:

Capt. Paul - Wear your Packer colors with Pride! I were my Packer Superbowl T-shirts and Jerseys every Friday (or game day) to my office in the Chicago area.... I'm well known in Bear country! GO PACK GO PASTY!!

By mickill mouse (Ram4) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 10:56 am:

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 03:07 pm:

Capt., watch out for those steel-toed boots at work! Lots of folks wear 'em, you know.....especially in Texas.;>
As the saying goes..."Don't mess with Texas!"

By Capt. Paul (Eclogite) on Friday, October 12, 2012 - 08:50 pm:

Are you kidding Shirley, I mess with Texas all the time, and usually get away with it!! ;-)
