Brenda Leigh enjoys decorating their yard in the Menominee area and Fall is no exception. She busily readys it with scarecrows and pumpkins, while the fallen leaves add an Autumn touch to the scene, too. The following is the story of setting up the scene you see in the top photo and what happened shortly after.
Brenda tells me that she already knows that she cannot leave anything edible, outside overnight, as it will disappear. She said that one day a few weeks back, she had spent several hours up and down the ladder with an apple picker, grabbing the best pie and eating apples she could find and filling a bushel basket with them. She then became busy with other outside chores. The next morning while drinking her coffee, she remembered her basket of apples and ran outside in the dark to check on them. Sure enough, the entire bushel basket of apples was gone, except for four that were left in the bottom of the basket. She's pretty sure she knows who the culprits are.
Fast forward a few days to when Brenda had just finished carving one of her hubby's garden grown pumpkins and she decided that since it was the middle of the day, it would be safe to put it outside for awhile, alongside the larger, artificial pumpkin and scarecrow decorations she had set up in the yard. Within ten minutes of placing that pumpkin near the scarecrow, several visitors showed up to check out her display. Only the brave critters did more than just check it out, they had themselves a pumpkin snack in broad daylight. You can see the piece of pumpkin in the mouth of the bigger of the two deer in the bottom photo, as they make their get-away back toward the Menominee woods. It sure made for a great photo opportunity, so I guess it was worth sacrificing one the Autumn decorations to be able to snap them to share with us here on the Pasty Cam.

Always love Brenda's pictures. These are no exceptions. My mom sacrifices her flowers every year for those critters, lol. And they sure don't show any fear. Great job, Brenda!!

Hi One time a friend of mine at work moved into a new house, complete with a nice porch and porch rail. He decided to set up a line of gourds on the porch rail as fall decorations. When he came back from running some errands, he noticed what he thought was human vandalism, as his gourds were missing or in a different position. In fact, the local squirrels had found this a nice buffet.

The deer find Brenda's festive yard enjoyable for Halloween and probably thinking her yard will be a safe haven throughout hunting season. Pretty smart!
