Due to our solar/wind cutover on Brockway mountain, today's Shoebox Memory is delayed until this afternoon. A special good morning to our friends on the east coast, bracing for some rough sailing.

Good morning, Charlie! I join you in wishing the best for those in the path of the storm. Son and daughter-in-law are on the road travelling up through VA to PA today. Drive safely, "kids"!:)

A bit delayed, here’s our follow-up to last week’s Shoebox Memory from Paul Meier:

These are two 1916 photos of Activities at the C&H Gun Club. These illustrate the club was more that a men's group.

The top photo is the Kraemer family at the Gun Club clubhouse in Delaware. My Great-grandfather Anton Haun is the fellow with the center with a vest. Nicola Kraemer was married to Anton's sister-in-law and boarded with the Haun's before the Kraemers family got so large. Old timers will remember Hap & Lou's tavern in Copper City, Hap was one of the older boys.

(the second picture): Women at the Delaware Clubhouse. L to R. My Great-grandmother Annie Limbach Haun, one of Annie's sisters maybe Louisa, my Grandmother, Clara Long Haun, another Limbach sister maybe Kate, Dina (Albertina) Sibilsky Gipp, Katie McCormick?, Etta McCormick?, & Mrs. Welch.

Photos by Fredrick John Haun - he also used the reverse - John F. Haun which seemed to be very common back then.
Thanks again, Paul. As always, we invite others to dig through their Shoebox for scenes that transport us back for a glimpse of the past here in the U.P.

Stay safe. Have a good week :o)

Those ladies look like they mean business.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Sunday, October 28, 2012 - 09:17 pm:

I wouldn't want to argue with 'em, Alex! :>
Happy to report the "kids" made it home to PA with no problems....now I can rest tonight.:)

In the second picture all the ladies seem to be in good spirits (is that a keg tap the center lady is holding?) The next lady is holding a coffee pot but at first look I thought it was a large stein. Could be Miller time.

Dina is holding a keg tap. Those were definitely pre-prohibition times!

Now, now, fellas, they're probably just drinking the 'recipe'. ;)
