Danielle Adams does more than drive around looking for freighters to photograph, although that's a big interest she has, she also travels on the backroads UP North here to check out what can be found along the way. On this particular drive, Danielle encountered a doe on the fringes of the forest, just watching her to see if she was a threat or not. The deer looks ready to flee, should Danielle pull anything out to shoot the doe, besides her camera.

The second photo was taken back behind Atlantic Mine, on Harma and Superior Roads. This was just about a week ago, so there's still plenty of color at that point. Since then, we've lost a good number of the leaves, due to the wind, rain and even a bit of snow here and there. There's still come color left in places, but for the most part, the trees are looking pretty gray or mostly yellow leaves seem to be what's left. You can still find a few trees that are holding onto their leaves, too, so it's not over yet.

Another stop Danielle made was up at North Entry, where she was treated to the arrival of the Ranger III on one of her final trips to Isle Royale to bring the crews and supplies back for the season. This time of year, Lake Superior makes the crossing from Isle Royale quite unpredictable, as the Big Lake gets stirred up for weeks at a time when the winds are blowing. More and more each day, we're seeing the days drawing closer to that cold season approaching.

Calypso was my favorite, with Country Roads running a close second.
Danielle, it looks like you stirred up some music memories.:)

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Saturday, October 13, 2012 - 07:36 pm:

Its funny, always thought that the first line about
"almost heaven, West Virginia" meant how much John
Denver liked that area.

Then found out a friend's youth group from church
takes Easter Break every year to go on a mission to
help build homes in Almost Heaven, West Virginia!
That's the actual name of the village where they go.
Very cool!

"FAR OUT!" JD's famous saying!

Alex, looking forward to the trip in Nov. & hanging out with my good friend Marty. As far as shooting a deer... Marty would shoot one, me, I just like being in the woods & Keweenaw and sight seeing, couldn't shoot one myself. If I had to do it to feed my family, that would be different I guess. I will however, have my pistols with me for a little target practice.

Not being able to go to LB anymore still ticks me off. We'll being staying at the Americinn in Calumet probably. Gonna mix in a little work with this trip to make it worth while. Have to go to the Soo, Marquette and Escanaba as well.

Time to get ready for the Tiger game, TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS BOYS!!!! BEAT THE YANKS!

By Erica - Florida Keys (Erica) on Saturday, October 13, 2012 - 11:44 pm:
