Here in Eagle River, Edie and I were walking past the monument yesterday - like we have thousands of times in the past 24 years - and she suddenly yelled, "There's a face!". It took me awhile to see it. Here is a video clip to help you see exactly where it's at:
Also we would like to add HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our son Jonathan, who was the original Pasty Camist, even before we started the daily pictures. His first shots to appear were in 1995, less than a year after the World Wide Web began. That was almost half a lifetime ago for him :o)

WOW..that is so incredible! I wonder where that rock came from? Don't forget...there's some incredible prehistoric stuff in the Keweenaw!!! That's just phenomenal!

Where do ya think Donna, out of the ground!!! :-P
If I had to guess, I would venture it's one of the Lake Shore Trap rocks from along Lake Superior.

Isn't it amazing what we can notice about our surroundings when we take time to really look at things? Great spotting, Edie!! And I enjoyed your video clip of the face Edie found in the Douglass Houghton Memorial, Charlie.
And Happy Birthday to Jonathan, the original Pasty Camist! Don't know that this site would exist without you, Jonathan ... thank you, thank you!
I have a son named Jonathan myself ... another Tech grad ... most everything I know about computers, I learned from him. :-)

There looks like there is a second face on the same rock. It is above & to the Left of the "Lion's" face. Looks like a Werewolf. It is facing slightly down & looking to the Left. But then again I am due for an eye exam. Thank You Charlie!

The Werewolf face is on the same rock as the lion & is touching the lions face. Looking at the Lion, the Werewolf chin blends into the upper left of the Lion's face.

Can someone tell me how to add a picture? Thank You Very Much

I agree ~ that isn't the werewolf, that's a brown lab!

Lower Left corner of the red rectangle. The Wolf face is vertical just like the Lion. It is looking to the Left & slightly down.

First, prepare the image file on your computer, then write your message in the usual manner, but include the following formatting tag at the place where you want the image to appear within your message.
\image{name}
(The actual "name" is not relevant unless you are uploading several images in a single message, and then it only serves as a clue to help you find the right image file on your computer during the upload process.)
You may Preview and edit your message as needed, then when you click the Post Message button, the forum software will recognize any message tag(s) that you included in the message, and for each image tag in turn, it will offer you an Upload window that you can use to find and upload each image from your computer.
Each uploaded image will appear at the position where you placed the corresponding image formatting tag in your message.
The lion looks like Mufassa (Lion King) to me. And the werewolf is definitely there. I wonder how many other faces there are?

Lions and werewolves and labs, oh my. Now I'm gonna dream about that rock. :<
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JON!
Today would've also been my daddy's birthday...he would've been 111. My son-in-law's birthday was yesterday.

To the upper right of the lion/werewolf rock is the bleached out skull of a longhorn right out of the Old West!

I'm glad you pointed that out, jbuck, I was thinking the same thing earlier.;) This has been interesting, Charlie & Edie, find more rocks for us.

THAT's why I'm wondering!

When I watched the video, I immediately noticed another face. It looks like a clown with his eyes closed and a frowning mouth.
