Lindsay White and friends, did some touring around the Keweenaw, checking out the colors in various locations and it looks like the kids enjoyed the time outdoors, too. Of course the boys in the group, had to find a daring way to see those bright leaves up close. Why look at them up above you, when you can get right in the middle of them instead. Boys will be boys, right?

Lindsay's next two shots were taken up above Lake Linden at what's known as the Quarry - Incline Dam. The little cutie, standing amongst all those beautiful hues is Lindsay's daughter and I have to say, her beauty even outshines the fall leaves! Unlike the boys, she kept her feet on the ground to check out the colors. Mom and Dad might have had a say in that, though. ;->

Their next stop was the No Name Dam, which Lindsay tells me is in the area near the Keweenaw Snow Thermometer on US41 north of Mohawk. If you look closely, you can see someone fishing on the other side.

Those last two photos were snapped from up on top Bumbletown Hill. Another place in the Keweenaw where it seems like you can see forever. They were treated to a freighter passing by out there in Lake Superior, along with a beautiful view of the Cliffs all decked out in color.

It's a well worn saying, but so appropriate for viewing these pictures today...It doesn't get much better than this!

"Gather ye rosebuds, while ye may." That's the 'verse' that came into my mind when I saw the first photo.....only this would've been...."gather ye 'Autumn leaves'......" because those beautiful leaves are going to be gone much too soon!

It never ceases to amaze me what beautiful pictures pasty-camers
take. Todays' are no exception. They are lovely!

Thank you for today's beautiful fall color photos. This is likely the last weekend of fall color, maybe even as far south as mid-Michigan. Earlier this week, the Free Press had an article that stated that the color this year seems to be a full week ahead of normal.

I've been lurking for years, just got a password because I just had to post -- the pictures this week have been unbelievably gorgeous! I can't visit this time of year, but this site makes it almost bearable. I don't know how I can be so homesick for a place I've only visited 3 times, but LOVE the Keweenaw! From Western Illinois.

Kate in Illinois----Glad you stopped lurking and jumped in with both feet. Welcome to the gathering of some of the best people you'll ever meet. Having been born and raise in Houghton and the moving away, because my work took me away, I have to check in here every day for my touch of home. Moved away in 1960 but when asked where I'm from the first reply, at least in my head, is the Copper Country. Ther is no one thing that makes the U.P. special, but it sure is!!!!

To give proper credit in my previous post. The verse was written by a 17th century English poet, Robert Herrick.

Beautiful fall pics. And now--the wind is blowing those beautiful leaves right off the trees!
