People are always asking this time of year, when the leaves will be changing here in the Keweenaw and what the peak color time will be. It's just so hard to predict, since you can drive on one stretch of highway and see hardly any color at all, then on another highway, the leaves will be bursting out with color already. It's a hit and miss type of situation, really.

These photos today, were snapped by Jack Brunell, while standing near the Hancock Beach, looking over to the Houghton side of the Portage Canal. Great shots with the sun really illuminating the trees, while the clouds hang over them from above. You can see the colors emerging in the first two photos, which were taken a week or so ago.

I'm not sure if the photo of the Ranger was taken the same day and just further down on the Canal, since the leaves in this area, don't look like they've begun changing at all yet. I just wanted to include it here today, since the sunshine bouncing off the boat and reflecting it into the water, sure makes a beautiful shot.

Pretty scenes! When we used to vacation in the northern part of the LP the first week in October, seems like the leaves were really in full color at that time. "October's Bright Blue Weather" poem always came to mind then. (don't remember the author's name)

Will be visiting oct 3-12. Wifie has never seen a Yooper fall color tour! hope we are not to late.
