I'm always quite grateful when people carry their cameras with them wherever they go and today is no exception to that gratitude, with the photos here from Brian Rendel and Bob Gilreath, respectively.
Both of these guys were on their way to work yesterday morning while the sun was just brightening the skies and they stopped to take it all in and then shared it with those of us who weren't quite so awake that early. Brian snapped his sunrise, lighting up the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, from the Porvoo Park on the Hancock waterfront, while Bob captured his early morning scene from the Hubbell dock on Torch Lake. Even though there was a distance of about 15 miles between them, it looks like they were both pushing their shutter buttons at the same time.
What a great way for these guys to start the day and a nice way for us to end the week here at Pasty Central. Thanks Brian and Bob!

OMgosh!! Those pictures are spectacular!! Don't ever apologize for using the word "awesome", Shirley. It's a great word to describe most of the pictures we see here.
Yes, thanks to Brian and Bob. That Keweenaw sunrise puts a smile on my face down here in SW Ohio.

The cloud formation over the Houghton skyline above the right side of the bridge reminds me of the floating land masses in the movie, Avatar.

Funny you'd say that, D.A., I thought that cloud looked like an island. However, I was thinking more in terms of Manhattan, with all the buildings.
