As we're getting more and more into the fall weather, I can't help but think about all the flowers that will soon be done blooming and just a memory again until spring. Marsha Galbraith captured some real beauties on a recent visit UP North and shares her virtual bouquet with us, today. All the vibrant colors make for a smooth way to ease into the beginning of another week of work, school and everyday living. Don't forget to stop and smell the flowers... while you still can. :->

P.S. Feel free to "name that flower", since yours truly wasn't certain on any but the first bouquet... a colorful array of mums.
Mary says: Oops...I guess my certainty was wrong...ha, ha...that's why I didn't try to name any of the others, I even had the one I thought I knew wrong - consensus is they're zinnias. Oh well, they're all pretty no matter what they are. ;->

What a sight this morning!! Love all the flowers! Ours are slowly dying off. As much as I love autumn, I sure don't like the end of my flowers. Enjoy them while you can, that's for sure.

Have a great Monday!!

Beautiful flowers! The flowers along the split rail fence look like zinnias to me. :-)

Great color! I'm not a plant person, but first ones look like carnations.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Monday, September 10, 2012 - 08:20 am:

A beautiful selection of flowers today! I appreciate their green thumb!

By Marsha, Genesee/Aura (Marsha) on Monday, September 10, 2012 - 08:30 am:

The first ones are zinnias. The first two shots are from the St. Ignace Welcome Center, the third is from the federal portage walkway near Chassell, where the wildflowers were amazing mid-August. Still time to take that walk out towards the lighthouse! I have more pics of it in my gallery, if you need to be talked into it! The last pic is also near Chassell, on the highway. There are flowers like that all over their property!

I was thinking zinnias too.....they're all beautiful. I love the flowers of Autumn!
Don't think I've ever seen any like the ones in the 3rd pic...they look like compressed dandelions.:) Very unique! Thanks for the beauty this morning, Marsha!

I Googled round yellow flower and it came up with Crespedia Billy Balls.

Looks like you're right, Janie. I looked them up and they look the same. But like I said above, I've never seen them before...and I've been around a loooong time. ;) Maybe they're a Northern flower.

What a sight to get on Pasty Net this morning and
see this beautiful array of flowers. Thank you,
Marsha. Nice to know the name of the little yellow
balls, thanks to Janie. My red sedum is coming up
now and looking good. Gorgeous time of the year!
Happy Monday!

Gorgeous! Simply Gorgeous!

By Diana P. (Diana) on Monday, September 10, 2012 - 12:05 pm:

Mary, I thought you were referring to the very colorful purple floral "bouquet" as being mums. The leaves on the purple flowers look more like mum leaves than zinnia leaves to me. :-)

It's so nice to see beautiful floral plantings at many of the Welcome Centers in Michigan ... in the LP, too.

Purple flowers could be asters.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Monday, September 10, 2012 - 01:06 pm:

Aren't aster petals thinner....almost hair-like?

By Thomas Baird (Thomas) on Monday, September 10, 2012 - 02:48 pm:

Beautiful, colourful, flowers!

By Paul Roberts (Grizzlyadams) on Monday, September 10, 2012 - 03:43 pm:

Call me a guy (please) :) but I'm pumped for fall! It's my favorite time of year! Football, Fall color, grey skies. Who could ask for anything more?
Oh and of course, cooler temps!

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Monday, September 10, 2012 - 05:45 pm:

It's nice to see flower photos. Paul, my favorite parts of fall (other than the changing leaves) are the apple desserts, cider, and the like. Sadly, the Michigan apple crop, at least in the lower Peninsula, was devastated this year (along with most other tree fruits, anyway), so fresh apples & apple anything are going to be really expensive, if you can even get them at all! :-( That's really hard not only for the consumers, but also the farmers, and everyone else. (And you can keep your gray skies. I love the deep blue skies!)

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Monday, September 10, 2012 - 06:18 pm:

Wonder if that will affect the annual Charlevoix Apple Festival next month?

By Marianne Y (Marianne) on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 - 06:57 am:

Here's some information on the apple shortage. One of my husband's coworkers apparently paid a lot more than that for cider with his kids at a cider mill in metro Detroit last week:
