As last week's wedding at Eagle River was taking place on Lake Superior's shore, another wedding was underway not too far from the Gulf of Mexico. The groom happened to be a guy who first appeared on the Pasty Cam way back in the early days of this daily feature:

Starring as Toivo at that time was James Hackman, longtime summer resident of Eagle River, and a good buddy of the original Pasty Cammist, my son Jonathan. James and Jon went on to star in another role for each other, as Best Man at their respective weddings. The top photo is the ceremony in Texas last week. James met Patricia in 2010 and was smitten with her from the beginning. They exchanged their vows surrounded by friends, all dressed in traditional apparel for the region. That's also James in the 2002 photos, a windy wedding day for Jonathan and Katriina as I recall.

Our thanks to Josh and Devon Fults for the Texas wedding photos. That's the update we promised last week, with some faces found back in the archives of the Pasty Cam. Someone recently asked me how long we've been "doing this blog" ? As a matter of fact, we've been doing it since long before the word "blog" was invented. (blogspot.com was created in July of 2000, and pasty.com was created in May of 1996) ...Hopefully we'll be able to keep on bringing a "glimpse of life in the U.P." for a while longer.

That was a windy day! Power was out all over the Keweenaw. As I recall it made for a very unique but amazing wedding! I actually wrote about it.
