Good morning, everyone! 51 degrees here this morning.
Where's Charlie?

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, August 19, 2012 - 08:58 am:

Good morning! Edie and I happen to be in Clarkston this morning in the L.P., here for her parents 60th anniversary celebration. Just a bit of a late start, a beautiful day here in southeast Michigan.

What awesome photos this morning! Love the Superior Lighting picture, and the Northern Lights are beautiful, also. Rod's boat picture is great, as his pictures always are. The Lake Linden picture had me looking for quite a while. My old house just missed out on being captured, but I see where Mary grew up, where she lives now, and my former in-law's house also. Nice to look at a picture and know so many of the places in it. I went to that church and both of the schools. And the old picture of the church is great too. Thanks for the memories!!!

Congratulations to your parents, Charlie, that's GREAT.....60 years! God bless 'em!:)

Good morning, all. Fascinating slide show this morning.

By Alex "UP-Goldwinger" (Alex) on Sunday, August 19, 2012 - 09:10 am:

Happy 60th to the young couple! Did you and Edie get a chance to go Dream Cruise'n this weekend? It was perfect, weather wise.

By Charlie at Pasty Central (Chopper) on Sunday, August 19, 2012 - 09:21 am:

We saw lots of the cars here on Dixie Highway, but that's about as close as we got to Woodward Avenue.

My congratulatory statement is not a mistake...."When your daughter marries, you gain a son....but when your son marries, you lose a son." So I'm sure you consider them your parents too, Charlie.

By Deb S. (Usedtobeayooper) on Sunday, August 19, 2012 - 09:36 am:

My congratulations to the happy couple, also. And Shirley, a truer statement was never made. So sad for those of us with sons and not daughters!

By DEAN SCHWARTZ SR. (Lulu) on Sunday, August 19, 2012 - 09:53 am:

"Good Morning", congratulations to Edie's parent's, May they have many, many more year's of marriage. It sure is nice here in s.e. Michigan. I'am in charge of today's dinner. We went to Eastern market yesterday. Had a "Bloody Mary" breakfast, then Suzy decided to a little shopping we bought a fresh beef brisket I'll put it on the grill around noon. Wishing all a SUPER DAY.

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Sunday, August 19, 2012 - 10:33 am:

That sounds like a delicious breakfast, Dean! The last time I had a Bloody Mary was 27 years ago, on the deck of the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA! That beef brisket also sounds good.;9 Now, I'm hungry!!

This group is going around the country, praying for each individual state, from it's highest point. Next Saturday, the 25th, they will meet at the Mt. Arvon sign at 9am to hike to the top (200 yards I think?) to do a healing ceremony for our great state of Michigan. So, whoever wants to attend, please do so...especially if in the Baraga County area! Later, at Big Eric's park/1pm, there will be a healing ceremony for individuals. ALL will receive a certificate. There is something in this month's Marquette Monthly on page 9....(I'm passing on the info for a friend).

Just as well, Charlie. I work at Long Lake and Woodward and on Saturday, the traffic heading south was was backed up almost to there. I am happy for the classic car owners, this is the best weekend they have had for quite a few years.

Where is Shirley's Early Bird?

By miningandlogging (Pinetreegirl) on Sunday, August 19, 2012 - 04:56 pm:

The crows are gathering, the hummingbirds are fighting and the trees are turning. Getting the last of the great UP corn today, the starlings are picking it apart. Going to be an early fall. The weather is picture/perfect; 70s during the day and 40s at night.
So sad about the crops in the lower states. We saw it all.
Didn't know you could grow Vidalia onions up here, got some from the Brad Johnson farm in Baraga.

Also had a nice breakfast at the Konteka yesterday and got to see the bears. They look so healthy, so sad bear season is coming. They're getting smart, though, they disappear on September 1st.
Glad I joined this forum.
