Got it now! I love the damselflies. My parents used to tell us to stay away from them or they will sew your mouths shut? WHAT??? Anyway, I love them, and I love dragonflies also! Nice slideshow!

"Good Afternoon", Well the family renuion was very good yesterday. I thought I would rest today but I got a call to take a load down to Angola,Indiana this morning.Nice trip.

Deb, I'm old as dirt but have never heard of damselflies.

Hmmmm that begs the question; if you're swatting at damselflies, would they be considered a "damsel in distress"???

Geeze Shirley. I hadn't realized there was a difference between the two until recently. But I had heard the silly saying about the sewing of the lips somewhere! Wouldn't it be funny if some one would list all the doppy things people use to believe. Like putting pennies on a corpes's eyes. Wonder what the stories and purpose are behind that? But damselflies are as neat as dragonflies. I collect images of dragoneflies. So fragile looking but so useful.

As far as I'm aware, Kay, I've never seen a damselfly, maybe they're a UP creature but have seen lots of dragonflies with those delicate wings. :)
About 'old wives tales', have heard plenty of them in the south....too many to list.

We used to see a lot of damselflies at the south end of Rice Lake. We went swimming out there quite often, and they were all over the place. I was scared to death of them, but now I think they're just so cute!

Oh yeah, and we see them out here on the smaller lakes when we're out there, too.

The coins were probably to keep the eye lids shut.
