Good morning, all! We got a little bit of rain overnight and this morning in the Muskegon area, first rain in a month. Looks like folks to the south of us got more, and that's good, because they need it even more than we do.

Great slideshow this morning!! Said "WOW" a few times. So, Charlie, is Cody a relative of yours?? That picture was one of the "WOWS"!!

Good morning and have a great day!

Starting out on my car trip to the U.P. this morning with my 2 dogs. Hubby will join me later. I'm driving from Evergreen, CO and will take 2 1/2 days to get to Eagle Harbor. This is the Sometimes Yooper part of my life! Wish me safe travels. I've never done it by myself before. Can't wait to pull into the drive.

By Diana P. (Diana) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 08:57 am:

Safe travels as you drive to the U.P. for a wonderful vacation, Nancy! You won't be alone ... your dogs will be with you! Enjoy the road trip! :-)

By Greta Jones (Urbanescapees) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 10:53 am:

Nancy, safe travels to you. Don't worry, I pull my 30' fifth wheel from Arizona to the Keweenaw and back each summer, just me and my teenage daughter, and we really enjoy the trip. We meet a lot of women traveling alone & with their four-legged companions at campgrounds. Relax and enjoy the ride.

By Dan Kemp (Upkemper) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 11:50 am:

Hi Nancy, We are in Denver and I was just watching a
house burn in Evergreen. They contained the fire to
the house and so far none of the surrounding woods
have been affected. The occupants got out OK. We
will be following you to the Yoop. We are traveling
for the third year with a 23 year old cat!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 01:20 pm:

Having lots of rain/storms in the Ohio Valley!
Oh my, Dan, don't tell me cats live that long...mine will be 13 in Sept. Old and cranky!:>

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 02:04 pm:

Tonight the first show for The History Channel's Great Lake Warriors...9pm central, 10 pm eastern.

By Dan Kemp (Upkemper) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 02:14 pm:

Sorry to tell you Shirley, but Curly will be 24 in
November and didn't get that old by being Mr. Nice
Guy. He is ornery and slaps one of us in the face
at 6am. It takes him about 3 weeks to acclimate to
a new time zone, so up until this week, he was
trying to get us up at 5am. We travel for six months
and he sits looking out of the windshield of our
motor home. He has buried all of our cats and I
thought once he did that, he could die a happy cat.
My wife says he will be happy when he buries me.

By Dan Kemp (Upkemper) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 02:19 pm:

Janie, Many years ago, a fellow yahoo and I took a
14 foot rowboat from Copper Harbor to Thunder Bay
and back to Isle Royale. We filed that under a "one
time only" trick.

By Janie T. (Bobbysgirl) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 02:33 pm:

Dan, but that allows you a lot of braggin' rights!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 02:35 pm:

Dan, my Tippy doesn't slap...he bites! Been doing that all his life. :<

By jbuck (Jbuck) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 04:16 pm:

Dan ~

"Two" words: close the door!!!

By Shirley Waggoner (Shirlohio) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 06:09 pm:

LOL! You did it again, Janie. Funny! (profile pic)

By sometimesyooper (Nancyd) on Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 08:52 pm:

Dan - thanks for the heads up on the fire. I
was aware of it before I left. It was about
10 miles from my house and there was no
wind so I knew it wouldn't spread. However
fire is certainly a major concern in the
Colorado mountains and something I can't
just leave behind. I'm happy to report
that my dogs have been angels on this
trip and I am in Omaha for the night. I'll
Report in tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip about the show Janie ~ have it
all set to record on the DVR!
