More often than not, when I look at photos from Frederick W. Koski, my first thought is, 'How'd he do that?'. Of course with today's photos, I'm wondering how he got up so high to photograph this Eagle family during feeding time. However he managed to do it, I'm glad he did, since we benefit with a "birds eye view" of the entire event here in the North Country. Even a shot of one of the eaglets taking a short flight to try out its wings, along with the fourth picture, that looks to me like the two young eagles were posing for the camera.

Wonder if these creatures do know they are being watched? The last two shots are from Tom Hall in Eagle River, earlier this spring. Comparing the angle of the trees we realize Tom must be walking to his right, when suddenly the majestic bird turns, as if to say, “I’ve got my eye on you!”.

Thanks to Frederic and Tom for today’s up-close glimpses of these UP residents.

I have a question for those who know a lot more about birds than I do. I've heard that Brockway Mt. seems to be a stop for large birds of prey migrating in the spring. Is it also a stop in the fall when the birds fly back to wherever they are going? I will be up there around the 3rd week of September, and I wondered if that is a good time to maybe see some large birds.

My guess is yes, they know they're being watched. After all they're 'eagle-eyed' eagles.:> A most beautiful bird!
