Some interesting facts about this HISTORIC flag, that Liz and her husband
Peter pointed out for us:
Note that it has even rows of stars. It's the 48-star flag which was flown until July 4, 1960. An interesting sidenote that Liz and Peter mentioned is that the 48 star flag, was the American Flag flown during the 1913-14 miner's strike here in Calumet. How appropriate for the 100th anniversary next year!

Since Liz sent me these photos a few days ago, she emailed and said that Peter had spotted a 48 star flag flying over the Elks building, too. We're wondering if there might be some significance for flying them in Calumet right now? Anyone?
